Victims’ Compensation
Crime victim compensation may cover medical expenses incurred and loss of income due to violent crime. You can obtain a compensation form from either Albion or the Prosecutor’s office. If you have additional questions or need help filing out a compensation form contact Albion.
Eligible parties include:
• An innocent victim or surviving spouse/dependent
• A person injured (or survivor of person killed) while trying to prevent a violent crime or giving aid to a law enforcement officer
• Immediate family members of a murder victim or sex crime victim who need mental health counseling
Other requirements:
• The crime must have taken place in Indiana and must have been reported to law enforcement within 48 hours.
• The victim or survivors must have been cooperative in the investigation and prosecution of the crime.
• There must be a minimum of $100 in out-of-pocket expenses.
• Application for benefits must be filed no later than 180 days after the crime occurred.
